Judith Merkies is a former Dutch/Canadian/Hungarian politician, living in Germany, who served as a Member of the European Parliament. She is a lawyer, lecturer, writer and moderator. Merkies wrote a book on the Leasing Society. In 2017 Merkies initiated Loneliness in Europe, advocating the need for targeted policy against loneliness in a digitalized world. Merkies worked at the European Commission, in the European music and the Dutch film industry.
